DNS Management Strategy

Overview

To streamline management and reduce DNS-related risks, all client domains will route through Search Quest’s centralized(remote) Cloudflare account. This approach eliminates the need for direct access to client DNS providers, minimizing liability while maintaining full operational control over DNS records.

Benefits

Consolidating DNS management through Cloudflare provides access to enterprise-grade functionality including comprehensive change log tracking (accessible to Client upon request), enhanced security protections, performance optimizations, and faster global propagation. This configuration ensures a safer, more efficient environment for managing DNS operations across our client network.

Client Rights & Protections

1. Domain Ownership Remains Unchanged. The client’s domain registration is neither moved nor transferred. The domain remains registered with the original registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap). Only DNS record management is handled through our Cloudflare account.
   
2. Full Client Access. The client retains access to DNS management for their domain(s) within our Cloudflare account and may view, modify, or add DNS records for their domain(s) at any time.
   
3. Change Logs. Client may request an official DNS change log report covering any period within the most recent 18 months at any time.
   
4. Unrestricted Exit. The client may repoint their domain’s nameservers to their original registrar or any new provider at any time without technical barriers or penalties.
    

Summary

Search Quest does not require direct access to client DNS provider accounts. Instead, we request the client’s consent to point nameservers to Cloudflare, where both parties can manage DNS with full transparency and shared visibility.

Remote DNS Strategy Terms

1. Scope of DNS Management

1. Client agrees to point domain nameservers to Search Quest’s designated Cloudflare account (“Managed DNS Environment”) for the purpose of DNS record management.

2. Search Quest shall manage DNS records on Client’s behalf within the Managed DNS Environment for the duration of the service agreement.

2. Domain Ownership

1. Client retains full ownership of all domain registrations at all times. No transfer of domain ownership or registration occurs under this agreement.

2. Domain registration shall remain with Client’s original registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap) or any registrar of Client’s choosing.

3. Client Access Rights

1. Client shall have full access to the Managed DNS Environment, including the ability to view, modify, and add DNS records at any time.

2. Client shall have the right to request an official change log report detailing all modifications and history for their domain(s) within the Managed DNS Environment for any period within the most recent 18 months.

4. Termination & Portability

1. Client may repoint domain nameservers to their original registrar or any alternative DNS provider at any time without technical restrictions from Search Quest.

2. Upon termination of services, Search Quest shall provide reasonable assistance to facilitate DNS transition if requested by Client.

5. Recordkeeping & Transparency

1. All DNS modifications made within the Managed DNS Environment shall be logged and timestamped.

2. Change logs shall be maintained by Search Quest for the duration of the service agreement, retaining the most recent 18 months of records on a rolling basis. Change logs are accessible to Client upon request.
